Songwriter, Composer, Performer, Author – “You’re So Vain”, “Let The River Run,” “Anticipation,” “Coming Around Again”
Carly Simon has an unparalleled career that spans four decades of openhearted storytelling both in song and print. Joining the singer-songwriters of the early 1970’s, Simon changed the public’s conception of pop music to an honest, sensitive and intelligent craftwork. Simon’s biggest success came with 1972’s No Secrets, which included “You’re So Vain.” The album sold millions of copies, occupied the #1 spot on the charts for six consecutive weeks and earned Grammy nominations in six categories. The single still captivates fans not only with its distinctive hook and self-empowering theme, but also with the ongoing mystery of its inspiration – a secret that Simon continues to keep close. Simon has earned Grammys, Oscars and Emmy awards and has expanded her career into film contributions (“Let The River Run,” Working Girl) and scoring (Marvin’s Room, Postcards from the Edge) as well as children’s books (Amy the Dancing Bear, Midnight Farm). Simon was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994.
